Good solutions can't be cherry-picked

Ever noticed how political discussions between partisans has more cherry-picking of facts going on than a cherry-pickers convention? They refuse to even acknowledge the truth of a fact that weighs against their perspective. But to solve problems well, we need to pick up all the cherries in the bowl, weigh all the facts affecting the problem... Don't wait for the politicians, it's going to have to be the people who insist that there is a whole bowl of cherries, not just two.

About The Village Square and Leadership NEXT

The Village Square is a nervy bunch of liberals & conservatives who think that disagreement, dialog & discernment of fact make for good decisions, a good time and a good country. Find us online HERE. Leadership NEXT is the next generation's opportunity to jump in. Our online manifesto: 1. Civility first, last and always 2. Facts matter 3. There's no such thing as underage thinking. So pull up a chair.

They met, they ate, they were civil... again. (Left to right: Vanessa, Lindsay, Luke, Vita, Gail & Eden.. Adam was almost certainly working too hard for a picture)

I think Republicans are simply acting annoyed but are really thrilled that they are now able to put all of their support behind Marco Rubio without anything standing in the way. As far as Crist's reasons for making the change- definitely…

Thanks for sharing that, Luke! A very interesting film. This is obviously an issue that's very controversial, even within families. Hopefully we'll have a good discussion this Tuesday and make some progress on this divisive issue.

Documentary on Homosexuality

In light of the recent controversy of what the county commission is proposing and in the spirit of our take out Tuesday next week, here is a documentary made by my cousin for his senior film at UCF. It details the story of his grandfather a very christian traditional man and his great uncle who is openly gay, and their struggle. http://www.vimeo.com/11096600See More
